Mayor Hamms announces that all city offices have reopened today following the inclement weather.
The emergency warming shelter is scheduled to close on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, as weather conditions continue to improve.
The City extends its sincere appreciation to all essential personnel—including Police and Fire Departments, Electric Department, Recreation Department, and other critical staff—for their continued dedication and faithful service to the community during this time. Your commitment ensured the safety and well-being of our citizens.
We are also especially thankful for the dedication of Animal Shelter Supervisor Camelia Shelton and her staff, who work daily to ensure warmth, safety, and compassionate care for the animals, particularly during extreme weather conditions.
We also thank our residents for their patience, cooperation, and understanding throughout the weather event. As conditions improve, citizens are encouraged to continue taking appropriate precautions and remain mindful of changing conditions.
